Status: offline 		It was made back in December last year and finally got on the market, most were Japanese titles and some were made for English as well. But they are not cheap!

Really missed those flying misfits, need to get a hold of collection of Black Sheep someday. I watched some on youtube, bringing in good memories.

Status: offline 		I can't help but laugh when i see an old episode. Why? because as a kid i honestly never noted that in the background of the scenes where the Corsairs were coming in to land......you could see roads and telephone poles. Occasionally you'd even see a truck or car driving past.

The setting of the series is supposed to be a South Pacific Island.

I'm pretty sure he was done being a kid before Black Sheep...

Think about the WWII movies. The run down the trench brings to mind Dam Busters, and another which name I can't recall fully, "Squadron" some number or perhaps some number "Squadron" about Mosquitoes running down a Fjiord to deliver bombs to a specific spot on a cliff face. Anything about the raid on Polesti might conjour that image as well. I'm sure there are others. He also mentioned scenes of gunners in bombers fending off enemy fighters. The scene where the Millenium Falcon is being attacked as it escapes the Death Star gave me that very thought as I watched Star Wars in the theater, seeing it the first time. I thought that part was just a cheap ripoff of WWII movies!

Nope, the "Squadron" movie was "Mosquito Squadron"



I was just informed that we are both right. The idea for the run down the trench came from 633 Squadron. Having to fire the missles into the vent at the end of the trench came from Mosquito Squadron. In Mosquito Squadron they had to put a bomb into a doorway.

Status: offline 		An English-subtitled version is available from Cine Asia here, (via Amazon.co.uk) on DVD for £9.99 and Blu-ray for £11.99. The DVD is PAL/Region 2; the Blu-ray doesn't say but is presumably also Region 2.

Here is the trailer for the subtitled version (shows several scenes that aren't in the Japanese trailer and has an English voice-over of Yamamoto and FDR). The Youtube page says that it's supposed to be available on VOD "soon", but I didn't see anything about that on Cine Asia's web site.

There are some pretty cranky comments on the Youtube page, and there's a review on the Amazon page that's totally asinine.

ETA: Upon a second look it appears that the VOD may be through LoveFilm (link on Amazon pages), though currently the film is only listed as available for mail rental.

Status: offline 		Good movie that is lacking a bit... First, it makes Yamamoto out to be too much of a 'good guy' - hero type of guy, also, it's a little bit fast paced... Also lacking Yamamoto's fight with Navy Staff, like his threat of resignation in autumn of 1941. -Not part of the movie. Overall though, it's a good flick, with the most stupid title here in Sweden...

In Japanese the movie's title is: Commander in Chief of the Combined Fleet: Isoroku Yamamoto
In Swedish the movie's title is: Attack on Pearl Harbor

The movie is about the Admiral, Isoroku Yamamoto, basically from the attempt on his life in 1939 'til his death in september of 1943. The attack on Pearl Harbor itself is only a limited part of the movie...

Anyway, worth to see...

PS. If anyone here speaks or reads Japanese and wants the movie cheap, I'll sell you the Japanese Special Edition for a cheap buck. (It only had japanese subtitles so was useless for me. Payed premium for it. Nice box, two DVD's full of extra material. Biography booklet, etc. etc. But no international subtitles...)

Kind of like Gettysburg...if you look close enough, you can see a car driving in the background, a modern day wrist watch...etc...

I agreed he was going to resignation back 1941 if things wasnt carried out his ways against Pearl Harbor, so many staffs didnt like the ideas and Nagumo suppose to abort if the United States agreed with the terms, Nagumo was furious and want to continue to attack. So guys dont take Yamamoto as a bad guy, he wasnt. He wanted to avoid war esp with USA, not only that they are stronger but they were his friends too. Tojo is the one is responsible for this and pissed off Yamamoto and other staffs, Tojo wanted total out wars!
