No there is no such possibility, we have considered implementing such feature, but found it will be too hard for AI to manage it.
However please remember that your units can entrentch if not moving, giveing the defense bonus (5% for each turn, up to 5 turns IIRC)

AFAIK you get an total defence modifyer %, but no detail about what modifyers are in use. Can the level of entrenchment 1-5, or % modifer available 5-25% be shown in the unit panel, so you can check which units have entrenched and how much.

A different sprite/tile for each entrenchment level would be helpful and cool looking too.
