THis is probably WAD but i figured i'd draw it to your attention.

So what i wanted to do and i feel should be possible (but if its not thats ok too)
I made a historic unit German Infantry Corp
which had 1 subpart
German Corps Unit (an HQ/TRUE)
4 German Inf Divisions
1 Nebelwerfer Regiment

It works ok BUT the HQ is not working like a typically HQ would. I tried both setting the unit as a Corps & as a Division. I'll keep playing around with it but it would be nice if i didn't have to make the Corp HQ an outside unit. I'd rather it just be a part of the whole unit as a whole.

It seems impossible to set different HQs for units belong to the same historical unit.

Instead the Corps unit's HQ will be set to itself automatically when trying to set HQ for other subparts of the same historical unit in event.
And the cycle may cause freezing in some situations.

Yea just hoping that maybe it was broken..but i'm imagining it's WAD. Just don't want to have to go through the exta steps of making a Corps HQ outside of the corp historical unit itself.

I am not sure what you are exactly trying to do. Could you provide a screenshot?

best,
Vic

Basically as you see i wanted to make a unit that has the HQ for the whole unit integrated as a subunit. I tried setting the unit size to corps & division & army to see if it made a difference.

I assume it's WAD because it's probably something you never though that people would want to make the HQ for the subunits to be built into the "historic unit" but i think it would cut down a town on the design. I was trying to model your case blue scen but in divisional terms. I think it would play out better to have the HQ part of the "Unit" instead of as a stand alone thing.

Hi Wheatley,

I get it now. But bad luck for you - what your trying to do is impossible. A HQ always needs to be assigned to a historical unit with a single subpart and set to either Level 5,6,7 or 8.

best,
Vic
