I wonder if there are some mods that allows to starts the operations or playing just a limiteed scenario starting from 1937 or 1938?
It could be interesting because it could cover the modernization and development of the IJN and US Navy, possibility of launching Orange plan and covering large parts of the Sino-Japanese incidents/war. Does any mod or game based on WitP AE covers these expansions?

1937/1938 would be pretty cool.. someone needs to make a scen like that

i know there is a Dec 7, 1941 start someone made that assumes warplan orange is launched

Issue with 37/38 start is Dec 7 41.

That day is specially coded and unique from other days...ie there is no night sequence to that day.

Another difficulty for the system would be the flare-up of hostilities with the Russians (Kalkhin Gol/Nomohan). The game only acknowledges war or peace...no in betweens.

The hostilities wit Russia should not be a major problem. Some simple trigger would be fine. I could even be interested in being back to 1931/32 where the IJN participated for the first time in offensive actions. The idea is to play the development of US Navy and IJN. Currently, there is a great mode RA4.2 that starts with the assumption that the IJN recommendations for a more carrier-based orieneted fleet (among others) were followed. WE could then implement them by ourselves. I have seen that a game called ORange Plan from Matrix covers this period to some extent, but it could be better if it could be played within AE until 1946.

always people give the idea of carriers being the ulitmate weapon, and criticize the building of battleships and other types

but.. what if someone during the 1930s developed a truly effective anti-torpedo buldge?

or a revolver-cannon AA gun?

- naval aviation would be totally impotent

the major power did precicesly what was logical -

develop all the weapon system types (CV, BB, SS, DD/PT),

and then shift production during wartime to that system that proved itself superior

Dali tried to set beginning date to earlier, than 1941, and that did not work.

I am not sure, you can even set pilot replacements for that date. But you can always pretend, that 1941 is actually 1937

That seems to work that way for every first turn (at least in GC). Also, rebased air units seems to be unable to make strikes (I checked only Japanaese side). CAP, and transport seems to be working though.

could not be developed a script that translates the last save in the "oragen plan" from matrix to the "AE" game?

This is the same engine, so probably it is doable, if someone know savegame configuration.

If it would be possible to extract everything into excel files, it would be easy to input everything by hand into initial WITPAE database.

Fulcrum:  You could mod a game to meet your specifications.  IE you and your opponent come up with your own Washington, London or whatever treatys and add ships, planes whatever from their.  Once you get the treaties online and decide what upgrades and deployment you could install them into the game and play.  I believe MichaelM suggested something similar to this several months back.  I had thought about doing this myself.  Uprade and modernize the US Navy.  I don't know much about the IJN Navy.

WO Katsuki: Effective TDS (anti torpedo system) the best would probably be something like reactive armor.  Revolver Cannon for AA in my opinon that would be a Gatling gun.  It had been around for a long time.
