German Divisional TO&Es

The development team behind the award-winning games Decisive Campaigns: From Warsaw To Paris and Advanced Tactics is back with a new and improved game engine that focuses on the decisive year and theater of World War II! Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue simulates the German drive to Stalingrad and into the Caucasus of the summer of 1942, as well as its May preludes (2nd Kharkov offensive, Operation Trappenjagd) and also the Soviet winter counter-offensive (Operation Uranus) that ended with the encirclement of 6th Army in Stalingrad and the destruction of the axis minor armies. With many improvements including the PBEM++ system, this is a release to watch for wargamers!

German Divisional TO&Es

German Security Division (Typical, based on 201st Security XX)

DCCB Organisation

Security Regiment x 3: 2500 Security Infantry, 5 x 75mm LeIG

=====
Actual Security Division Organisation: 2 x Infantry Regiments (one of 3 x Infantry Battalions (each of 3 x Infantry Coy, 1 Heavy Weapons Coy); other of 3 Infantry Battalions each of 4 Infantry Companies, 1 x Motorized AT Coy, 1 Infantry Gun Coy, 1 x Russian Cavalry Coy, 1 Artillery Battalion (12 x 105mm lFK Infantry Guns))

Suggested DCCB Organisation ...

1) 2 Infantry Regiments, incorporating the Artillery

2) Security Infantry Regiment x 2: 2200 Security Infantry, 5 x 37mm ATG, 5 x 105mm leFK Infantry Guns.

Much weaker than the ones in the vanilla game, which are far too strong in Infantry, in that they have only 2 Regiments, but these ones have more (and bigger caliber) Infantry Guns and some AT Guns that the vanilla ones don't. There are also more Security Divisions in the OOB (thread elsewhere) than the three that are at start in vanilla DCCB.

Wow - that's a huge amount of data to absorb and somehow organize. Who feels like putting it into an Excel spreadsheet for easy use as a reference when editing the DCCB OOBs?

Well, I *gave* Excel, as part of M$Office, but can't say I've ever *used* it ... so, probably not me ... or not until way after I finish the TO&E stuff.

I *was* (am) intending to consolidate and update it all as a single pdf document once I have it finished, though.

Oh, and, to be accurate, there needs to be a number of added weapon types ... Armoured Cars, Infantry Guns other than the 75mm one, the different Guns/Howitzers of the same caliber, SP AA Vehicles and more ... which I wouldn't even consider doing until I have finished the TO&E/OOB stuff ... and, then, only after time sitting down to see how the various values for existing weapons mesh with the real world values so I can reverse engineer new ones (of course, someone else could do it first!)

And that assumes that the game engine has enough slots for all the added unit types/organisations/weapon systems.

And I must do Panzer DIvisions, Panzer Grenadier Divisions and Infantry Divisions as well as Independent Tank (and other) units ... probably tomorrow for these.

Lots of work [X(]

Ah, right - so you are planning to mod the OOB in-game yourself? In that case I think I will hold on until you've finished and import your OOB into my scenario (if that's OK with you?) rather than become one more modder slaving away to fix the same set of issues.

Well, I'm thinking about modding it ... but I have exactly zero experience with doing so, and with the editor in DCCB. So don't hold your breath unless you look good in purple [:D]

Of course, I am off work till the end of January on Long Service Leave (what you furriners would, wrongly, but close enough, call a "sabbatical") ... so, eventually, I'll get around to it.

Of course, as I noted previously, I have about five other things I am more or less committed to do at the same time, finishing off the writing of my latest RPG, for example (see the sig)

But, yes, it is my plan ...

Phil

And a very good plan it is too! I think I will leave that to you and anyone else who opts to do the same...
