That's the Mk21 that 'belongs' to 1 Sqn. It was being looked after by BBMF.

It's going for a respray this week, by professional painters. It's like they want it done properly or something? She's only a few million away from flying again! Still there's a cracking panel under the tailplane that someone has manufactured

Here is a bit about the history of the plane. Funny I finnished just reading a book containing some of George Ockenden's description of the battles he participated in later in the normandy campaign.

Spitfire TE311 is a low-back/bubble-canopy Mk XVI with ‘clipped’ wingtips. Some 58 years after it last flew, TE311 will be back in the air in 2012, having undergone a painstaking re-build to flying condition by BBMF technicians, which was started in October 2001.

11 years??? u guys have to much fun posing for photoes and too little work being done. Painstaking... doesnt sound like how u descripe ur work Dixie

Don't blame me, I wasn't even in the RAF 11 years ago! Plus I spent the last 8 working on large aircraft.
