Still August 7th at my place - and I just happen to remember that today is the 70th anniversary of the Guadalcanal landings.

I'm going to commemorate this by playing the Guadalcanal scenario tonight.

Tenno heika banzai!

And yesterday was Hiroshima. I just finished reading Tinian. I then googled earthed the Marianna's. That is when I realized the real importance of those islands. Have you seen how many golf courses are on Gaum and Saipan?

Lots and lots. And ironically they are mostly used by Japanese tourists! BTW Sp...Guam.

It took me a while to spell it right every time (like the two years I lived there). One of the reasons I objecting to going there (there were many) was the name. Guam comes from (alledgely) Guham, which means "we have water" in Chomorroan. (Which I always felt was more of a chamber of commerce slogan than a basis for a name). And the name itself, sounded slightly unpleasant. Like as in "Mom! , the cat just Guamed on the carpet again!". But after living there for two years and developing lots of friends there I learned not only to love it, but even spell it correctly! (Consistanly! Not easy for the terminally deslyxic!).

My typing fingers have A.D.D. I also spelled Mariana's incorrectly.

And now they've gone and changed the spelling of several towns (like the other islands in the region). Agana, for example, is now Hagatna. Can't think of any others off the top of my head, but I seem to recall there's at least one.

Tinian Town is now San Jose. I'm sure Saipan also has many changes.

Yeah , but the locals claim they are returning to the "old" names. (Pre Spanish).

Didn't Matrix change the Victory values of the 'Canal in this scenario so that the IJ AI would become more interested in contesting this real estate?
