There is something I'm not getting re generating & using landing craft. I'm fine with building at certain ports. What is the business with "activating" them from supply transports?? Can someone point me to a good thread or answer pls? There is no clear answer in manual that I can find.

afik,

1.must have landing craft in the pool.

2.more than 40k supply in TF.

3.TF must be proper nationality for the craft.

best i can do for now.

You'll get no answers from me, but is the username paunchious pilot taken? I'd like to have it but I'm no pilot and the forum rules won't let me have another anyway.

mang, in another life, w/ a different gene-set, i'd like to be a paunchious pirate.

i can't get w/ that 'Activate LC' button, either. are the generated LC part of the TF that activated them? otherwise i don't see that they'd be any help at all.

again from memory,

disbanded LC and ships with an LC complement(AKA/APA/LSI)
will assist in unloading.

Thanks...most of the info covered by repies I knew. I'll try formulating the specific TF RMS touchs on. Logically the role of LC was only as RMS suggests. However surely we are not expected to somehow follow an amphib TF with a plodding low endurance LC TF??!! These LC are somehow embedded with the parent and activated but dammed if I know how??!! Any more answers out there??

geofflambert...all I can say re handles is: I wash my hands of it!!

This thread seems to be generating a lot of confusion about landing craft in AE.

1. Amphibious ships that historically carried landing craft have them abstracted in AE. You do not need to attach LCVP (etc) to these ships, they are considered to have them aboard and to use them in landing operations.

2. In-game landing craft are intended for short range invasions or slightly longer range supply runs.

3. Creating landing craft from the supply of a TF emulates such craft carried (probably unassembled) as cargo. TFs can only create landing craft if they load supply in a port of their own nation (few rules here, don't recall exactly and too lazy to look them up). But a TF that loads supply in the US and unloads in Australia will get the "create landing craft". One that loads in Pago Pago and unloads in Australia will not.

Thank U D Bowen...I'll keep trying and report back. The issue remains with activating the Tran TF LCs.

Would that work with a LSD involved TF formed in Tokyo or Osaka? It would be of huge help after april 1st. APDs do not count as amphib ships if I'm correct and AKs/AMCs are only useful insofar as they can try to shoot back during landing.
