What is the best Naval Attack bombers in early 1942 through, let’s say, early 1943 for:

Brits (they will get the Vengeance DB in late 1942, but what about bombers?)
Oz
NZ
USAF (They have a few Banshees, but not many and most are withdrawn).

Now for the ASW aircraft:
Brits
Oz
NZ
USAF
USN, should the DBs be used for ASW early on, or strictly as Naval Attack?

Beauforts are your best friend when it comes to naval attack, since they are 2E torpedo bombers with decent range.

For ASW, I'd say that any bomber will do, though the light bombers might be better suited to it since they can operate from smaller airfields.

For land bombing the Wellington is fantastic (but not as good as the B17), but I don't know how it would do against ships... I would assume that would be dependent upon training... as the aircraft is the vehicle and the vehicle is only as good as its operator (within reason of course!). Hal

Naval attack beauforts for the torpedo and the B25 and marauders trained up for low naval.

ASW, anything you can spare. They are all fine if they are ASW trained.

crsutton is right: It's more about the training.

Aside from the Beaufort, which is the only bomber that carries a torp, you basically have to train bombers on LOW-N. Get the crews up to 65-70 in exp.

Then, use a bomber with a big bombload. More bombs = more hits. So, B-26 and B-25 work well; they have relatively large bombloads.

Hudsons don't, and therefore are not really suitable. Non-torp Beauforts are a little better.

But mostly, Low-N training is key

I think of Hudsons as more "Maritime Patrol" planes; they are good for Nav Search and ASW due to range, and those missions don't get them killed

I like using the A20 for my ASW roles.

I also use the A20, and other 2Es, for tactical bombing roles (as they were historically).
