The Sir Robin tends to get defined as a lot of different things - leaving no units behind to do anything to slow an advance, however, seems to be a recipe for defeat.

I think Soviet players are currently calibrating defenses...its been mentioned before but the Germans learned early on to perfect their play, while Soviet players had it pretty easy until the fort nerf. As far as I know, there is no one defense that the community agrees works - fighting forward or even mostly fighting forward has been a recipe for disaster in every AAR against good German players (and in my personal experience as well...although fighting forward can completely wreck a weak German), while a full Sir Robin just loses the war without firing a shot. The balance in between is a tough one to strike.

I agree that a balance is required. One thing I 'love' with WitE is that there's no 100% perfect recipe. It depends on who you're playing and their play style. What work's for one will probably need tweaking against another.

The major river (Volkhov) was stormed and occupied by Armour. All being well the last of the Ladoga ports will fall/be cut off next week:

Hi all,

After a couple of months away from WitE (due to burnout and sloppy play creeping in on my part) and my last game being on indefinite hold I decided to start to get back into WitE.

Nice to see you back in the saddle!

Steven, re-visit WitW as well - the new Air Combat Pavel is writing looks very very good (it is just like more manageable BtR)!

AGS.

Things are very fluid down here but I'm ok with this.

I re-open communication and fuel with all isolated units and expand the territory between the Russians. I've also shifted the majority of 3rd and 48th Pz Cps to open territory north of Dnepropetrovsk.

I did NOT manage to re-seal the pocket to the south (see next post) but I'm ok with this as with my Panzers in open territory DF has to be careful. I can either swing NE to Kharkov (all facs still there), to the SE (would create a MASSIVE pocket of the remaining forces west of Dnepropetrovsk) or to the east towards Stalino.

Could you post the Turn # on each of the posts? With the quicksave files not showing the Turn it's hard to keep up with what we are actually looking at.

Thanks for doing the AAR, good stuff.

Apologies. You're right. I assumed it would show in the top right but as I cut it off it won't!

The above turn is turn 9.

Hi all,

DF has conceded the game. I'm a little surprised as, although, things aren't great for the SU its a long way to go and the 41 blizzard can change things.

As it stands DF will likely play a few other games and we'll have a re-match.

Thanks for viewing and sorry it didn't last longer.

Were there turns we haven't seen? Granted, I think he ran too fast but at the end of the day he still had an army, and as the Soviets as long as you have an army you are in the game...

Hi Speedy
My opponent has gone MIA. I may well be seeking a new German opponent very soon. I am giving him a couple more days then I will be up for a game. Just a heads up if your interested.

I think he surrendered a bit prematurely but...

No more turns. What you see above is the end. DF's view was that as LG, Moscow and the South were soon to fall (within 3 more weeks I would say) + I would guess up to a fronts worth of units would be cut off down south = end game. My thoughts are above that's it's a bit premature.

Thanks Michael.

It's likely I'll look to play the Soviets next for a change but I'll take a break for a few days before deciding.
