This tactic can be used vs checker boards or a solid line. In this case I could have pocketed the units but during 41 you need to get east as fast as possible. I like my break throughs to be 3 hexes wide so my units dont get cut of for a turn.

The great thing about it is instead of forsing high morale russian units to retreat, then retreat, then retreat ect ect ect wasting men/tanks and more importantly MP's you simply route them.

I use this tactic grinding to Moscow. I will try to get some shots of causing units to route because of over stacking.

Anyways here goes. Heavy recon is done looking for a possible weak spot.

The hole is made and 3 Panzer Corp drive through with infantry holding the flanks.

The SHC had a check board behind this hole, but because I was able to use only 1 low MP PZ unit and a few infantry divisions the gased up tanks had more then enough MP's to rout the checker board in the same way.

The rail lines are cut to Leningrad and caused SHC to pull back from strong defensive positions.

This is the following turn. Leningrad is basicly toast at this point, as long as I keep units with 5 hexes of the rail lines they will not get repaired.

Moscow will be under heavy assault by turn 10 from the NW and the normal assaults from SW and W.

This tactic easly counters checker boards and can be used to punch holes in high CV lines in 41.

Instead of getting retreat after retreat you punch a hole in the line, drive through 1 regiment in many cases behind units and get 3 routs.

With a solid line of units you only need 1 hole and then attack from the hole down the line. This will cause the units to rout because of over stacking. Then put infantry on the next 2 to 3 flank hexes on each side and then your panzer units will have max Mps to make a huge break through or punch through a 2nd fort belt using the very same tactic.

Very interesting. Will try this next I start an AI game again. Hmmm... fake direct attack and then, right hook.
