Scenariobank, .dczip and thanks to modders
Hi all,
Just want to make sure your aware that www.advancedtactics.org is now also supporting .dc1, .dc2 and .dczip extensions. (see editor walkthrough on auto-generating dczip files, but you can also manually rename a manually packaged normal .zip file to .dczip. The .dczip basically notifies the zip is properly packaged for use with the 'install zip' button in the main menu)
Feel free however to use your own websites or data storage facilities.
Apart from where you host the files I would like to also point out that especially the .dczip or the regular .zip format is ideal for modders as it allows you to properly package a zip and then have the end user only need to press the "install zip" button in the main game menu. This avoids issues with people unzipping files in the wrong place. If you do this however make really really sure (test it) that the unzipping is happening in the folders you want it to go to.
Last.. I want to say i am pleasantly surprised to see already a big number of modifications. I would like to especially thank RedMarkus and panzer pony Krupp_88mm for their contributions. I would like to give support where-ever possible so if you got a question about the editor or something else modding related feel free to send me PMs.
Krupp asked in another thread if i would implement the transparent hex sides in a future vanilla patched version. I think I will. Also I think i will be going to take over some other modifications that work better than the graphics in the vanilla version.
Best regards,
Vic

RE: Scenariobank, .dczip and thanks to modders
Vic,
If you could import the DC1 terrain types into DC2 for the next release (not on map, just available) that would speed up the modding process. Also any unused terrain types from the development project that werent used in the final release.
If the community then adds some more modded tiles to that total set, I expect you'll be amazed at how fast the new scenarios start coming. This is the best engine I have seen for totally flexible modding. We coud create almost anything with this, if I understand what I am seeing. WW3, WW1, Normandy, etc...
That lets you focus on the next versions of the engine and AI, right?

Both have earned it.

Vic this is fantastic. Another reason 99% of the software on my computers come from Matrix and Co.

Also... the RedBlue example scenarios mentioned in the editor walkthrough are available on the scenariobank.

The Kerch filename is kerch_v4.dc2
Whatever software you are using is renaming the extension.
You cannot unzip this file, you can only load in Case Blue.
best,
Vic

This is going to sound weird but redblue.dczip install find without a problem. But I can't get Kerch v4 to install at all.
Hopefully Vic will add the scenario into the first patch.

Download this Zip file: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/29184871/New%2 ... %20Vic.zip
Unzip and open the folder till you see the second level folder call 'New Scenarios from Vic' inside the zip folder with the same name (7Zip is a bit dumb or I am).
Paste it into your MODs folder and activate with JSGME. Open the game and you should see Kerch42 listed when you click on LOAD SCENARIO.

It's there... The link is kind of hard to spot. Click on the scenario in the first screen you get to and you should see this page with the link...

Hi redmarkus4
That'd be it then - I'd found Operation Trappenjagd just hadn't made the connection; I was looking for kerch [8|]

Thanks Red… for doing that… the scenario is now running and working fine on my PC.
I don't know what happen on my side. I probably got distracted or something when I downloaded Kerch the first time and mess something up.
The next Beer on me.
