Hi Vic.

I am trying to Mod the OOB in line with some tables from Glantz - 28 June Op Blau Long.

However, every time I open the scenario up it shows different OOB values - before any modding, just the vanilla scenario.

For example, here is the 9th Pz Div the first time I look at it in Play view - not editor view...

And here is the same sub-unit after I close and then re-open the game. These images are both from the play screen, not from the Editor and I have not edited anything. I also note that the entrenched value has changed.

Is this a Fog of War effect? Is it WAD or a bug?

@redmarkus,

Hi. It is not a bug.
When the scenario starts events 29,30 or 31 is executed based on the start date of the scenario.
These events randomize the equipment and give some losses.
I coded it this way because i went to 100s of versions of the scenarios and Model OOBs and this way i could easily update all the units on the map with their ideal OOB (by clicking on 'set all to their model' in the his window) and than have the scenario adjust the units to the correct values at round 1.
Now... there are 2 options to do what you want to do.

1. Set events 29,30 and 31 to 'no check'. But keep in mind that you'll then have to adjust all units. So probably its best to first execute the correct event (29,30 or 31) first and then set it to 'no check'. This way you start with a balanced scenario and can make changes from there. Make sure to set 29,30 and 31 all to 'no check'.

2. Or preferedly (and way more difficult) add an event (above number 300 to keep it compatible with any future updates) and manually make further changes to specific units. This method 2 will keep the randomness in. If you want exact numbers this is not the way to go.

Hope this helps.

Best,
Vic

Thanks Vic.

How about if I just delete rows 37 to 42 in Event 30? Will that mean that my Axis Armor OOB stays unchanged, while the other values are scrambled?

Mark

Deleting those lines of code would result in the panzers not getting scrambled. However they will still be reduced in number due to the lines above them. If you delete the removeTroops lines that affect panzer unitgroup it would work. However i think option 1 in my above post would be easier.

Dont forget to check the attachment i made showing the buttons to use.

best,
Vic

Vic, I also would like to change the startong OOBs for the Panzers. I am having no luck at all. I've read over what you and redmark discussed, but I'm still not getting anywhere. Can you please try to make a simpler step by step guide?

Thanks Vic - sorry, I have busy modding the map.

We will play around with the OOB next.

Vic, I've learned a deal deal about the editor! I figured out how the change the OOB according to your 1st suggestion. However, I realized that option #2 is indeed very difficult. That option requires that we code inside the new event. Can you write up something that could teach us about coding the events? I feel this is one area most people will hit the wall and will not be able to carry on with a new mod or scenario...
