SR-71 Blackbird Originally designed to be fighters, how'd you like to run into a fleet of these protecting a squadron of B-70's?

This pic is really poor, but it shows that they at least had one Japanese plane.

I believe this is an F-86 Sabre, but the skin was removed so you could see lots of neat stuff.

.

edit: My latest guess is this is the nose of a B-36 with the bombadier's station on the left.

edit #2: JeffK is right and I'm wrong, this is a B-29 cockpit. Thanks, Jeff.

#202 is a P47B Razorback.

# 216 is a C130.  There were a LOT of variants on that model.

I want to say this is a Hellcat, but I'm not certain.

would be rather big for a Hellcat, that's a P-47

I'm sure you meant # 203
I've edited that info in to those pics. Thanks.

If I understand it correctly, "Razorback" refers to the non bubble canopy configuration which was still used in some of the early P47Ds. This presumably refers to the fatty hump above the shoulders with bristles sticking out on wild boars as can be seen in the first image below. These razorbacks in the US can get as large as bears as can be seen in the second image. "Nature Tours" I'm sure is a facetious substitute for "Hunting Party". However, hunting of these animals is greatly encouraged here as they are non-native and extroardinarily destructive animals (and very dangerous).

on the A-10. The Air Force doesn't have Warrant Officers. A majority of them would not be flown by woman... The reason that the A-10 was looked at for retirement was because it was designed to kill tanks in a tank heavy war and that there doesn't seem much chance of that anymore so the A-10 may be a plane without a mission. If I remember it, some of the reason it was kept was less fuel usage than a fast mover and a longer time to engage with the cannon. While the Cannon makes good movie fodder most folks I knew preferred standoff weapons.

I checked and you're totally right. I could swear I read about a female warrant officer flying those but I must be dreaming. Nonetheless, the A-10 is a platform which does not have to be used against tanks and can carry "smart" weapons which are not always associated with artillery. Many systems greatly out live their design parameters, like the B-52. We're pretty glad we kept those around.

I don't recall where I got this, and it's obviously a reprint/replica, but I thought many of you would find it a treat, especially those among us who are British.
