I'd appreciate that, Wodin! If he could just start out with just a few "patches" of yellow/dark-yellow. Keep it simple. It could represent wheat, wild grass, ect. I just feel it done right with the proper shade of yellow, would contrast nicely with the stock map. Currenty it seems like it's missing something.

We can't add or mod the on-map text. Vic has confirmed that.

This needs to go into the requests to the devs...

redmarkus4,

in your modded German Infantry image you placed a HQ squad in the background.

How about if you place instead the HQ unit again the three infantrymen in the background, put smaller size of course?

Will look at it later in the week :)

redmarkus4, krupp_88mm,

Find (Internet?) an old, authentic planning map of the area of operations of the German Wehrmacht during the Second World War.

Color and generally tries to visually adjust the original Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue map from the area of operations planning map.

Is that a challenge for you?

I can look at it if you find an example online that you like and send us the link...

I do not even look like the originals.

I wish I could look on the map of Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue like Manstein, Beck, Jodl, and all the other generals were once on their large card tables to advise and to plan.

So I would have liked. Such an optical illusion I would love to see, love to feel.

Even at the risk to become unpopular now: A map in the War in the East style would be a great thing!

I want to do this, it will take alot of work and time.. But i dont think i can, i think i can only edit hex's. If i can edit hex's and place them individually, than it may be possible to do it, but i think i would first need to go through the entire map and assign each hex to each graphic? still not sure how this works, i need a walk through, because i dont even know how or where the game editor is currently.

And making a hex pattern that uses a historical map will take more than 13 hex's, im not going to say it wouldn't work, but it wouldn't be terribly accurate, unless i can figure out how to make more hex's and assign them to the map file. I will see if its possible, but it will take alot of time, so dont expect anything for awhile.

It is possible to create as many new hex types as you want, but to make a WitE-style map you would need to create hundreds of unique hexes - maybe a few thousand. Too much work...

You two could also try to surprise us with you interpretation of a military map.

Other:
Well, I would say, whatever redmarkus4 and krupp_88mm offer of quality work in the forum will find his grateful and enthusiastic users. Mod by mod.

In many games it is so that there is always something the individual user don't like - what ever.
I, for example, fell not in love with the DC: Case Blue included vanilla standard graphics.
With krupp_88mm and redmarkus4 we are fortunate that two capable modders can take corrective action here.

The secret is, keep the momentum running! I want to say, as long as krupp_88mm and redredmarkus44 are still highly motivated.

This is a typical example.

Very hard to get away from the DCCB hex structure, but my mod takes the map in this direction, I think.

Not sure it's feasible to do more in a realistic time frame.

@RedMarkus,

There is an option to use big graphics images as maps (not tile-based), the only downside is it slows the enigne down a little bit. It has to be used in combination with transparent or invisible landscapetype graphics.

You can find the option in the "Settings" Window.

Best regards,
Vic

I remember for Advanced Tactics for it was a symbol mod with authentic, original icons of Wehrmacht troops.
I would love to see them in Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue again.

Do you know the link? I don't find it on the AT site or via Google.

For me, the quest for it was also exhausting.
You can already forget the search function in the Matrix forum!

The link on the Internet

The link in the ATG Matrix forum / post #10
Matrix Forum ATG Mods

I know for sure that this is still at least one other image in the Matrix forum.
But where? The function of this forum is virtually useless.

I've even found the mod for ATG on my hard drive.
