On August 7, 1942, the 1st Marine Division began the road to the Japanese mainland with the landings on Guadalcanal. In honor of this, I will post a few of my favorite USMC links.

I will start with http://www.ww2gyrene.org/ , a site run by my friend Mark Flowers, who started it in 2004. I've had the privelege of personal correspondence and a few phone calls with Mark over the last few years, and he's a truly good man. He's also a former Army veteran who served in the First Gulf War in 1991.

70 years? Where did the time go? I remember being a little kid when every little kid had a young grand dad from the big Dubya Dubya Two.
