This drives me mad.....
If I want to load troops (and airplanes) onto ships, what do I do? explain it very simple so I can understand it, please!
First I form a Task Force - thats works fine.
And then I have tried a lot of things, and a few times it works, but mostly I can't load any of my troops or planes ... Either they are grayed out or not shown at all.
And yes, I have tried with 'move' 'strategic move' etc.
Help, please!

Inability to load is due to:

Transport TF and the units you want to load are in combat mode
Amphibious TF and the units you want to load are in Strategic Mode
Planes cannot be loaded onto an Amphib TF

That should help you a bit.

Transport TF can transport Airgroups and ground units in strategic move.
Amph TF can transport ground units in combat mode.
If you are going to transport ground units, make sure you have enough cargo AND troops capacity in the TF.

So, step by step;
Transporting airgroups
1. Form a transport TF with as many AKs as you have airgroups you want to move
2. Make sure the Airgroup is not in a restricted HQ
3. Press load troops
4. Chose the airgroup to load. Chose if you want to load supplies as well or not.

Transporting ground units in strategic mode
1. Form a transport TF with enough AKs and APs to meet the cargo and troop requirements needed for the ground unit you want to move.
2. Make sure the ground unit is not in a restricted HQ
3. Press load troops
4. Chose the ground unit to load. Chose if you want to load supplies as well or not.

Transporting ground unitd in combat mode
1. Form an amphibious TF with enough AKs and APs to meet the cargo and troop requirements needed for the ground unit you want to move.
2. Make sure the ground unit is not in a restricted HQ
3. Press load troops
4. Chose the ground unit to load. Chose if you want to load supplies as well or not.

Except if the land or air unit is "restricted" then you have to pay political points to free up those units to be moved by the player. Which will prevent it from being loaded on to any ship. Also, don't forget you need to have enough "lift"; that is transports and cargo ships, in your task force to carry whatever unit your trying to move by sea someplace. I forget which one it is, but there is one of the tools out there that can help you in the planning stage to figure out how many ships you will need to lift a LCU from point A to point B.

Take my word for it. You never want to be involved in an “International Incident”.

Thanks, I will try some of this, but what is the point with a restricted HQ? I know it is a different topic, but why not just have unrestricted HQ's?

Thanks Terje - this I could understand, and now I know what to do, and why some troops can load and why some can't.

Restricted HQs are included in the game to prevent the player from doing completely unrealistic moves. For example, at the start of a GC, the Japanese have a fair number of combat formations in the Home Islands. In real life, the Japanese would never have employed these troops abroad while leaving Japan undefended. So, so to reflect this reality, you may not load them onto ships and move them elsewhere.
