I notice its normal load is torp and reduced load is 2 x 250kg bombs. If it is set to use bombs rather than torps is the normal range load still 2 x 250kg bombs?

Sorry Castor, what I meant was it is not right that the "normal" non torpedo drop load is only 2 X 250kg bombs. It should be doubled that... but as to what it actually is I've no idea. I guess one could run a trial by doing a bombing run at "normal" range and then read the combat report which should say as to how many bombs were dropped as well as the number of aircraft. The results would speak for themselves. Lots of Torpedo aircraft have this same problem, nothing stated at "normal" range in the bombing arena. Hal

This is the case for all aircraft in the game. It is just the limitation of the design in that when you opt to use bombs for a torpedo bomber then you are selecting the long range load out. Not a big issue as it works the same way for both sides. The TBF should carry 4 500 pound bombs if within normal range but the game only allows two. Not really a deal breaker.

I certainly agree that it's not a "deal breaker" but given the amount of detail and the level of complexity of the game overall, I would have thought the developers would cover this... but then again I'm not a programer and thus have no real feel for what "this" would entail. I was thinking that putting in a "optional" load out for a land attack verses a naval attack would be relatively easy (in that there are two options for naval attack, bombs and torpedoes, already)... but then again, I could be totally underestimating the complexity of the concept. OK, not ideal.......but at least it can operate as a dive bomber when its carrier is out of torps and therefore be more accurate when using bombs.

better to have a separate dive and a separate torpedo variant

this way.. the dive squadrons can be equipped with the grace, but the pilots have low NavT skill

They are less accurate since the latest patch. kates had an uncanny ability to hit ships from 10K feet level flight.
