I have not tried to restart a previous game after installing, so I cannot tell you if it affects earlier games, but I doubt it. The Tech stealing...It gets bad from mid to late game, I'll try to explain; -you get a new spy (they are not built anymore, you get a fixed number) whenever you reach a new age or build a specific wonder. -you can place your spy in your own city to kill enemy spies, in an enemy city to steal techs or in a city state to rig their elections. -some buildings will give a +25% chance to stop tech stealing from your cities. The problem arises if you are technologically advanced, as all AIs will send their spies to your cities to steal techs, in one game I believe the AIs stole something like 15 techs all in all untill I got a late age wonder which gave a +99% spy defence in the city it was built, and +25% spy defence in all other cities in your empire. The problem is that there is something like 150ish turns from the first spy arrives untill you get to build that wonder (do not recall which one atm, sorry). So, expect to have a tech stolen aprox every 10 turns if you are ahead in techs. It is not a gamebreaker in any way, but it is really annoying imo. Terje
