Linked Firefights

This link will take you to my zipped scenarios.
These were designed as a series of 3 linked firefights played on different areas of the same map.
Higher Ground is 5 turns and has the fewest units.
Right Flank is 6 turns and is a bit larger.
Tip of the Spear is the final battle and incorporates surviving units from the first 2 firefights.
It is 8 turns long.
To play these as a linked series do the following.
Record the score and your surviving units at the end of the first 2 firefights.
Aside from units designed for the final firefight, you will go to a purchase unit screen.
Purchase only units which survived the first 2 firefights and deploy them on the appropriate side of the map.
At the end of Tip of the Spear, tally up the scores for all 3 firefights and declare a winner.
Notes.
I designed these to play another person as the unit setups allow flexability.
However games against the AI can still be a challenge.
Enjoy and let me know these play out.

RE: Linked Firefights
Hi Noypi53,
You want to unzip the scenarios to the My Documents/Western Civilization Software/Conflict of Heroes - Awakening the Bear/Data/Scenarios folder and then they will show up in-game in the Play Game -> Additional Firefights menu. The map files (in this case the files that start with "AGCenter" go in the Data/Maps folder in the same path. If you go to that menu now it will also tell you the path to put those scenarios in.
Regards,
- Erik

RE: Linked Firefights
Ok, results so far.
SPOILERS BELOW - IF YOU HAVE NOT PLAYED THESE SCENARIOS, PLEASE DO NOT READ
I've played the first two against the AI so far and would love to play these against a human player. Ok, the High Ground gave me a real surprise! It felt like I stuck my hand in a hornet's nest, with Soviets coming from all directions to hold and then retake the hill. The AI played this one very well. I managed to win 10-5, but I lost a large part of my force. I had remaining the Mortar, one LMG, one Rifle Squad and one Pioneer.
Right Flank was much easier. I advanced quickly to the objectives, brushing the Soviet forces aside without a problem and then took the Soviet reinforcements under long range fire and used "Mark as Used" cards to help keep them from being a factor. The AI did not play this one well though as it kept the flanking force back. I only saw those Soviet units on my right flank at the end of the scenario and they would have made quite a difference in the hands of a human player. You might consider tweaking the AI choices for this one. I won 18-3, losing only one Rifle Squad.
I'm starting the third scenario now and I love the fact that the scenario specific units are at the map edge while your surviving units show up towards the middle, but it would be great to let the middle deployment band go another hex or two back as it currently rules out some good positions that I was deployed in at the end of the first two firefights.
I'll report in tomorrow on how the third firefight went, looking forward to it.
I have some screenshots of the end of each scenario as well if you would like them. If you want to try these out multiplayer, I'm up for that as well. [8D]

RE: Linked Firefights
Thanks for the feedback Erik.
I'm glad you had fun with them.
My next scenario design will be a single player where I have more control over the AI setup and reactions.

RE: Linked Firefights
Thanks Jamm,
These scenarios were great fun. Very well conceived and imaginatively organized. I particularly enjoyed the first 2. I found the last one a bit on the large side for my taste. I have always prefered smaller battles in the games I play.
Thanks again,
John
