Status: offline 		I don't seem to be able to place individual ship out into sea areas. I select the ship and I get the move arrows I left click and the ship does now appear in the area!!?? This seems to violate whats shown on page 40 of the rules. Do ships have to be in fleet containers?? Is that a change from the rules or is there something wrong due to my Win 7 machine?

I have updated the version of the game to v1122, but where can you find the version when the game is running?

Status: offline 		If you start the game, you will see an intro screen with the pictures of Grant and Lee.
The version number is in light blue top right on that screen.

I have no problems moving frigates to the sea zones close to land (i.e. not to the
Atlantic Ocean). Left click ship, see blue move arrows, left click and ship appears
in selected area, but only if there are enough movement points. If not, ship will
be placed as far as possible.

Yes I found the version, 1.12.2. Thanks.

I am doing exactly what you are doing. I right click on the fleet then left click on the ship. I get the blue arrows but when I left click on the area nothing shows up. I have the advanced options selected, but I see nothing about naval units. This is a show stopper for me. Can you remove ships from fleets?

I just uninstalled and reinstalled the game but did not roll the version to 1.12.2 and still no joy!! I do have an error file in my FoF folder. It states;

I am able to create ship units, like frigates, but when I place them within a fleet container I can not extract them. They are locked within that fleet. I can shuffle the ship units between fleets but I can not remove them. Now with other containers like Divisions, Corps or Armies land units can move freely. I have not yet tried creating a new fleet and then see if I can move ship in and out of a new fleet. In case the two I start with, Home Squadron and Blockade squadron are not bugged.

Ok, I created a new fleet and I still have the problem. Once a ship unit is assigned to a fleet it can never again be a ship unit, unlike land units. I can transfer between fleets but not out of a fleet.

Oh, this error file in my folder is getting bigger each time I start the game. The same message is duplicated ever time I fire up FoF.

But i'm pretty confident it once worked, because i remember that
i've moved ships from a fleet to another area to join a fleet there.
And i've tested in Crown of Glory - no problems detaching ships.
Very strange ...

NOTE: Ships and Fleets are an exception. To move a ship unit out of a fleet,
you must detach it from the container by opening the attachment box, holding
down the ALT key, and then left-clicking on the ship you want to detach from the fleet.
You can then select the ship unit from the sea zone, and move it elsewhere.

I'm at the office and can't try this now ...

Thanks I'll give it a try.

Yes, using the Alt key does remove ships from fleet. But be sure the RR button is off ... ... ships don't move by RR. Doh!
