Volunteers needed!

Post by Oberst_Klink »

For quite a few upcoming projects I need somebody who really loves to create/convert maps; After I am done with Kharkov '43 - Operation Star & Gallop *5km/1day* (based on Joao Lima's original; with his kind permission) I plan to create the various battles around and about Kharkov (4 altogether!), but 2.5km/12hrs. Hence the need for an avid map designer/converter. The good news are; only one master map is needed :) Naturally the person will be mentioned as co-designer for those scenarios.

Suggestions & volunteers are welcome!

Regards,

Klink, Oberst

Well, no one likes to make maps, ja ?

At 2.5 km, with Kharkov at the center of the map ? How far north-south and east-west are you looking for ?

Hey hoaloha, I have a 2.5km per hex grided topo map with Kharkov in the middle. goes out about 100km each side of the city. But don't have time to make it into a TOAW map. It's about 18 meg. Uhm...not sure if you can use it or how to get it to anyone.

18meg's, wow. I guess reducing it would make it too blurry ? I use something called IrfanView to view the large jpeg2's. Maybe you can zip it so it will e-mail easily ?

This link is about 50% size. Any smaller and it get's hard to see rivers amidst all the 'stuff' sometimes. It's still about 8mb. Right click and Save Target As. I think that should do it. Let me know if it doesn't.

No good, too blurry. Put the 18meg one in a zip and e-mail it to me, if you can. [:)]

Wow, is somebody really volunteering already?

@sPzAbt653: Your or Rick are up for the task?
@Panama: Could you get in touch via the Matrix Chat or email? To map a potential task easier; have a look at this one: http://hist-sdc.com/bookshelf/pzc_planning_maps.html

I got the JTS of Kharkov '42 and '43, worth the detailed OOB and the maps, so there shouldn't be any CR infringements. The hexes are 1km, so an overlay of 2.5km hexes would do the trick. For a scwenario designer with a map making fetish it would be like a w*t dream come true to adapt one of those babies to 2.5km hex!

I'll play with it for a bit and see how it goes. I can't find my beloved HexThingy tool on the net for some reason. If anyone has the link - it would be much appreciated.

Here's a bit of what I've got so far :

Do you mean Curt's ODD hex editor?

Klink, Oberst

P.S. You are giving it a try? Well, it already looks good! Finally going through the German OOB and TO&E for K43 - S & G.

No, its a program actually called 'Hex Thingy'. I might have given it to you when you were here. If you still have it, you can e-mail it to me.

Only got the TOE files and D21; perhaps it's somewhere on your backup drive? Or what is Rick using?

I don't see it here anywhere, my backups were not complete. I think Telu has it, though.
