I saw this movie last night on NetFlix and thought it was excellent.

Followed Ike (Tom Sellack) from being named as Supreme Commander, his interactions with Churchill and subordinate staff, and all the planning issues leading to the launch of the attack . Seemed to capture the subject accurately but I am no historian.

I found the scenes dealing with Montgomery, Patton and de Gaulle very interesting and informative

That movie has been on 'History Channel' several times. I find Selek an interesting choice to play Ike.
The movie thumbnails, but doesn't expand on the various personalities, like Montgomery, Patton, deGaul, etc.
I would love to see more info on the Roosevelt-Marshall-Eisenhower-Churchill relationship in ihe politics of planning.
I was dissapointed that the Slapton Sands debacle, which cost nearly a thousand American lives, was simply glossed over......
All together, to a curious armchair historian, the movie raised quite a few interesting points which could bear further study.

IMHO the best intense film on the subject was a mini-series back in the seventies called "IKE:THE WAR YEARS"....It starred Robert Duvall(excellent portrayal), and the story stuck to historical facts, was based on the book written by his British driver/confidante Kaye Summersby.........

ORIGINAL: Buck Beach

Followed Ike (Tom Sellack) from being named as Supreme Commander ...

I saw this flic years ago; it was well-written, but Sellack was miscast. It was the reverse of Leo DeCap as Howard Hughes; I just couldn't can't past the obvious disparities in size.
