I have what appears to be some sort of glitch with the Russian ari replacements. My game is in April 45 and its via pbem, further, we have patched as each new one comes out.

The problem started some 4-6 months previos, when the Russians received a horde of new air units. I sent them from the reserve to waiting airfield, but the planes flat won't fill up the air units. I change the plane type, still no help. There are plenty of planes, they just won't go to the units.

What's the totals of aircraft in the game? It seems that you have reached a limit. There is a routine which disbands old types, but it may require player to disband groups flying old air frames to allow newer groups to receive replacements.

I am not sure, I will check the totals next turn I receive. I have had the AI handle the up grades on planes for the most part, so I can not recall many "older" planes still in use, although that's pretty relative.

I would hope there is not a limit, as I have plenty of empty air field units, filled with empty air squadrons in additon to all those empty air squadrons sitting in the reserve. If there is a limit, it should be removed or something needs to be done about all these additions which come all at once in late 43.
