Has anyone encountered this: the AI creates design after design using the same components for the same ship type. I started a game today that I shut down after 3 years because the game had designed about 30 capital ships and 20+ carriers, all the same, but on separate lines on the ship design screen. It didn't obsolete any of them and so the screen got totally cluttered with those repeated designs.

I deleted them all but one, and within a few months it was doing it again.

I've seen it before, but never this severely. Did it once before -- capital ships, but only did 2 or 3 before it quit.

I have most ships set for automatic update and retrofit, but am not developing new tech anywhere near that often, and these designs were basically undifferentiated. Not only that I wasn't at a manufacturing capability level where I could build cap ships anyway. Same size, components, etc. Developing a new compponent kicked it off again of course. I hate to have to manually upgrade ships every time there is a component available, but un;less I can stop this, I suspect I won't be able to find my real designs.

Same as issue #1 in this post.

There are numerous other posts calling out the problem. No feedback from Elliot as to any planned fix.

Thanks. I was sure someone must have seen it if I have. I have gone to manual updating any or all military ships. Not too difficult to highlight and mass upgrade. Leave auto retrofit on but do the updates manually. Doesn't seem to infect civilian ships or bases, but I upgrade exploration ships, mining stations and gas mining stations manually because I arm and defend them against pirate attacks.
