Looks like they have found some British Spitfires, still in the shipping crates, buried in Burma! Soon to be exhumed.

I thought we were supposed to use sticks and stones for the next big war....or was that for the one after the next?

I was some fleet air arm / Raf guys the other week.
i said that I couldn't really understand why people were upset over the loss of the Harrier. Did you guys really want to fight Argentina in that 60 year old design?

To my immense surprise they said they would. The Argentinians have 60 year old designs too.
What they wanted was quantity. They said its better to have four harriers or three tornadoes up than one Typhoon
{The typhoon is so expensive to run and maintain that they aren't allowed to fly}

It has been my experience that in large organisations the accounting, admin and management
parts of the entity rarely listen to the operational people and in fact often view the
personnel who do the job with amusement or disgust depending on what silly demands they have
made in order to facilitate getting things done. I once had a senior management person
explain just that to me in very condescending terms. "You people can't be trusted to plan.
You are too wound up in the day to day buisness and have no sense of perspective."
I believe the term REMF was translated from the original Sumerian.
Cheers
