Have to go for Hipper out of this group

Group B

I love the distinctive, County-class (especially the big hangar they fitted to some) but sorry HMS Suffolk , I have to go with the Zara on this occasion

Warspite1, old boy, you've finally got some sense in you. What took so long is anyone's guess, chappy.

I'm forced to agree with your choices here-Hipper and Zara. Please record my votes accordingly what what.

I wish to register a write-in vote for the Russian ship Admiral Popov. Her unique lines speak for themselves.
What a turning radius!

Thanks Chickenboy & Barny - looks like the heavy cruisers will be another Axis benefit - although I think they deserve it on this occasion.

I am simply seeking clarification of what icepharmy is voting for.

I dunno. I smell a well oiled trap...
warspite1

Not at all, I am very pleased that people can be arsed to come and vote in these competitions.

And so am I. I am looking forward to the day this thread is admitted to the Internet Forum Hall of Fame, in the Thread With The Most Views in History.
warspite1

Well the Music thread has something of a lead on this one. I would just be satisfied if I can get a good number prepared to vote.....

And neither can hold a candle to The Thread!!! (tm)... that one is in it's - what? - fifth iteration and is up to 464 pages already. I believe that an earlier version crashed the Matrix forums, didn't it?

I still have no idea what the difference is between a fast battleship and a battlecruiser.

I battleship does the fighting and a battlecruiser cruises the admiral and high ranking visitors and officers along the seafront eg. Normandy. Iwo Jima etc.

Or is one a boat and the other a ship?

I'll just go for the best sounding names. Wichita and Mogami.

My vote for the round.

Battlecruisers typically had battleship armament but only cruiser level (or slightly better) armor. Fast battleships had full armor and just a lot more horsepower to make them go fast...

Battlecruisers - or specifically British battlecruisers tended to blow up, taking all but a few men with them . Such a series of unfortunate events at Jutland led Admiral Beatty to exclaim:

"There seems to be something wrong with our bloody ships today"

On a much lighter note therefore I give you an Australian Beauty to admire:
