I believe, and if you analyse in more detail, understand, what British Exil said in his earlier post was:

quote:

I felt initially that I should withhold my vote as I am ignorant when it comes to ships. That said, I feel it would be wrong of me not to use my right to vote, and on reflection, will use the aforementioned in support of King George V.

Warspite, old chum, I think I see what you've done here.

Like Fodder, I must check my "Swedish to Lunatic" translation book to get at the heart of what you've suggested. Clearly a difference in languages.

You see, in my translation guide, "Swedish to American", the KGV roughly translates to "Blocky, ugly, devoid of pleasing lines rubbish."

How to determine a neutral interpretation of Orm's posting?

HMS King George V (2) warspite1, redcoat

you understood me correctly, thats why I am now wondering where my vote disappeared to.

I liked the big boat in Steven Segal's film "Under Siege"

All joking aside - as much as I want to cheat, I won't. If you want KGV though I will gladly accept your vote. That "big boat" was the wonderful Missouri, so I will record a vote for her sister Iowa.

Group 1

Bismarck (3) Orm, fodder, MAurelius
HMS King George V (3) warspite1, redcoat, british exil
Vittorio Veneto (1) Chickenboy

Group 2

USS Iowa (6) warspite1, Orm, parusski, Chickenboy, MAurelius, british exil

I - in spite of my long standing AFB status - have to put my votes in for Bismark in group 1 and Yamato in group 2.

You had better not forget to include the Alaska in the Battlecruiser division!

Honestly, this competition is less interesting than the last one. Also as I am a "landratte", I don´t have a clue to where or what I have to look for to judge my vote. Anyway here it is:
Bismarck
Yamato

Note: Dear Warspite, you can anytime disqualify my vote, as it lacks any kind of "expertism", and you also may not be pleased by it.

Il Pollo di Ragazzo, where'd you get that translation book? I obviously need one.

War Inspite of, is this a "straw poll"? If so I will have to vote Iowa in category 2. Chock me up for Victor from Venicia in category 1. She shouldn't have a butch name like that though, let's call her Victoria.

KGV? From the superstructure I'd say you like your women big up top, but those eensy weensy 14" guns? C'mon. Those 6" 60s on that hybrid Yam/Tomato are really wicked looking, but I'll stick with Iowa.

Maybe they hide the crew under the tarp? As you see in this picture they do seem to store the crew aft.

Are they keel hauling a fellow sailor on this pic? Just noticing the ropes. Is this still practiced? I think not in the US Navy esp on an aircraft carrier, but maybe in the Royal Navy as tradtion is still important there.

Very good spot british exil. The individual concerned was Petty Officer Watkins. He was in charge of the Twiglet dispenser abaord HMAS Australia in 1937.

Unfortunately it was discovered, two days into her voyage, that he had not stocked up on supplies of the delicious savoury snack.

Discipline was brutal in those days, but these were twiglets he'd forgotten so fair enough....

Mmmmm Twiglets.

If I'd have been the Capain, I would keel hauled him too, 40 lashes too. Then sent him with a row boat back to Australia to get some Twiglets. How can you sail into war with no Twiglets on board?

If you let crew members think that such important things, such as not stocking up on twiglets, will go unpunished, then mutany is not far off.
