Hawkeyes Big Ten championships: 11

So yeah, we know a little football.

Unless you're an Iowa State alum, then I really feel sorry for you.

Somethin like 1 Big 12 championship in the early 2000s?

I'll look it up.

Love it. Now my Ole Miss might actually have someone they can beat. Wife is a Mississippi girl.

And who wouldn't want to be in the best conference in all of college football?

Actually the thread activity has been a sad reminder of why some get rightfully irritated when the threads get "hi-jacked" and inappropriate, insulting, off topic, silly, and/or just plain stupidity takes over. The thread starter tried to recognize an important and somber event and probably hoped for appropriate and respectful replies. After about a half-dozen posts off it went.

I think we all need a bit more restraint and respect for others who would like to participate in such discussions without having to see them turn into a bunch of the above. I know that I too need to keep watch on when and how I post. I have no problem with threads started for the purpose of fun, silly, non-sensical bantor, reasonable mutual friendly insults and the like, (in fact I enjoy them). However, maybe we should try to leave the other threads on topic and free of antaganistic and even intentional disruption.

Sorry for the sermon and my off topic and perhaps ill-advised post, but something about this thread seemed to give a clear picture of how we tend to destroy threads to have a little fun and or even take joy at being antagonistic.

I love the silly, weird posts on the silly and weird threads I start. But I do not like to hijack other people's threads. I am with you on this one.

I understand Yogi's point, although I don't feel quite as strongly as he does.

I had an opportunity to visit another similar site last night and while I am not excusing in any way our sometimes silly behavior, we are MILES AND MILES above what I saw there, and we basically police ourselves.

I think to expect any of these threads not to go off on a tangent is unrealistic, but that's one man's opinion.

Yogi, if you were offended, I apologise.

You're right Yogi. I'm afraid I may have steered this ship on its present course.

BTW,
Have you guys heard of the new Lincoln movie that will come out late this year? A Spielberg directed movie that will star Daniel Day-Lewis as Lincoln and other well known stars. Filming has wrapped up in Va and it looks to be a big production. First I've heard of it.

Lincoln

Edit: Man Lewis looks a lot like Gregory Peck as Capt. Ahab in Moby Dick.

Thank you for telling me. I think that would actually be a movie I would go to the theater and watch.

Orm, did you mean that as a joke? If so - that was very funny.
