I expected that by spring '42 an event would have fired that switched the USA from neutral to Western Allies. So far this did not happen in my game with Gary. Anybody know how this is been handled in ToF?

This is random, based on the situation at the Pacific

How random.... what is the range of dates odds?
Earliest possible 'Pearl Harbor' Date?
Latest possible (is never a possibility)?
Will US ever enter if not attacked by Japan?
Does spending DP for early entry always just get 1% or does this increase with time
Does ANYTHING happening in Europe affect US entry? (unrestricted sub warfare attacking Switzerland)

This should be looked at in 1.02 to fix this issue, as in 1.01 a 1% increase is not worth the effort, as you can never get the Allies to join early or on time via influence.

Right now you are at the mercy of the Axis depending upon what they do that increases war entry for the USA.

I don't think I ever played a game where there was not a Pearl Harbor. Iv'e seen it as late as March or June.

Japan i attacking the USA is a guarantee.

I fixed this issue a little in the Third Reich scenario as USA war entry was too late in 1.01

Basically, every country that is attacked increases war entry.

The main thing about the events that bugs me is the complete lack of transparency to the player.

For each event the following should be available in plain language.
1. Date range event is 'active'
2. Triggering circumstances and odds
3. AI pick odds (if 'pick-able')

Optimally an on OFF switch in an easily accessible configuration file emphasis on the 'OFF'

For Example:
'Turkey Joins Axis 75% if Iraq & 5 Russian cities German controlled and US not an allied power between 1939.09.01 and 1944.12.31 AND German Request entry event has been triggered.

BTW I just had Turkey 'join' the Axis by an event. Americans are in the war Allies are in France USSR holding nearly all USSR cities. (essentially the Turks just committed slow but certain suicide by joining the 'unconditional surrender club')

Again, this is against the design.
If you could easily check the events, then the game would change into math equation. Events are something unpredictable and irresistible.

Thank you. Good to know that there is some hope that the US will join eventually.

Just curious, (if this is not also super secret): What effect do the various embargoes have on the US war entry. I embargoed Japan as much as possible early on to provoke an attack on the US - but so far (beginning April '42) this did not work obviously. Does it have an effect and I just got unlucky?

So, why did you not declare war manually?

??? US needs 150 DP to DoW on Germany (which they won't have for quite a while; never if they waste DP's on 'early' war entry options)

JLPOWELL is correct. The US is lacking still quite a number of DPs actually at this date. Don't think I used some earlier.

May be good to provide enough DPs in each scenario so that the US can declare war by herself sometime in '42.

Try raising War entry.

This feature has been improved in the Third Reich scenario.

Well, in this scenario it is a 1% raise for 10DP. Given this rate, a DOW is less expensive.

But while we were discussing here, the event in my game did finally fire in May '42.
