Any quick opinions? It looks sort of like the old naval warfare game Janes Fleet Command.

Looks pretty interesting for only $20. But if it is utter garbage I will stay away.

Been following that, if not purchasing it. Opinion seems generally positive, but I haven't really seen any comment from the sort of folks I would take seriously. A Harpoon lite might be fun, but a Fleet Command lite.. meh. Low price is a plus, but lack of an editor is a major downer and you have to question why it was excluded. Probably one to wait for a discount, which seems to happen much sooner than later in regard of Paradox titles these days.

Bought it anyway, of course..

Actually rather enjoyable so far. No doubt the Harpooners will crucify it for lack of accuracy regarding this, that, the other and everything else, and probably rightly so, but it does actually 'feel' more like Harpoon than it does Fleet Command, which was pretty much just a glorified RTS click-fest in simulation clothes. Might well develop into something quite decent if sales are sufficient to justify the usual Paradox DLC stream in due course.

There are worse ways to spend 15 quid (or $20, whatever it is over there).

You might want to check out Global Conflict Blue a free to download community project that looks simalar to Fleet Command.

Features

Global map - The entire surface of the earth is available for play including global bathymetry data for ocean depth
Real-time modeling - Flight dynamics, guidance, and sensor models are incorporated real-time for a high level of realism and fluid game play. Broad simulation capabilities covering areas such as air-to-air refueling, chaff, flare, and subsurface countermeasures, mines, smart bombs, terrain masking of sensors, and damage physics.
Graphical User Interface - An interactive map with commands driven by context menus. The GUI enables intuitive and fast action for managing operations. Multiple map layers cover views spanning a few kilometers up to an entire continent.
3D graphics - Watch the battle unfold with a real-time 3D view. Physical 3D models are also integrated into the simulation to provide accurate optical and damage cross-sections.
Editable Database and Scenarios - The stock game database includes hundreds of platforms, along with associated weapons, sensors, and equipment. Database and scenario files are saved in an open format for user editing. A database editor and in-game scenario editor are packaged with the main application. Fifteen exciting scenarios are available to play, along with four tutorial scenarios.
Flexible time-scaling - Player-controlled time acceleration is supported to keep the game pace at an exciting level.

The first patch (1.0.2.3) is out.

Should be downloadable from Steam. Sounds like the demo got patched as well....

Is this just a demo, or a full game?

Both are available. You can download the demo from Steam. Both the game and the demo were patched today...

The demo is actually the complete game but with only a few scenarios unlocked. When you purchase it you get the rest.
