Newbie.

As IJN vs. AI i use my special task forces to full advantage on 1st turn. As a result by the end of the 2nd turn i control
Wake, Rabaul, Cayagan, Davao, Balikpapan, Singkawang, Samarinda, Tarakan, Brunei, Miri, Kuching, Batangas, Iba, Kuantan, and Khota Baru.

Would something like that fly in a PBEM or am i just fooling myself?

The only one on that list that could give you trouble is Balikpapan as there is some Allied surface forces in that area. Plus the Dutch could intervene. Now if that was supported by Baby KB, it is quite doable. The rest of the list would be quite typical for a Japan player to take if not on the first turn, certainly in the first few weeks.

It's mechanistically feasible, but some opponents may bristle at the other-worldly assumptions that this movement requires. It all depends on whether you're playing an opponent with a desire for realism or whether you face one with a 'no-holds-barred' approach in the game. Your milage will definitely vary.
