Twice since the most recent patch I have found that the game starts up with no option to build colony ships. The designs are there, but the shipyard selection screen does not have the design. I have checked to make sure the ship size and design are OK, and they are (this is at startup so no mods to ship design have been made). When I return to main menu, start over again, the problem is not there. I have not seen it with other ship types -- yet.

One other thing that has happened on occasion (not necessarily related to this patch) is that ships will start building shield strength and then for no reason the shield strength starts decreasing. The word "decreasing" appears, so it obviously is something that is anticipated can happen, but can anyone tell me WHY that happens. Often this is with brand new ships, no damage, full fuel loads, plenty of reactor power, etc. Eventually it seems that shields zero out and then the ship starts over again powering up shields, and they eventually get to a normal level.

Have only seen this half a dozen times, almost always with exploration ships after I have upgraded the design with extra reactor and shield strength, such as the "Conquistador Class" exploration ships that are pirate-proofed (maybe?) with shields, weapons etc. up to destroyer or cruiser strength so they don't need escorts (which don't have fuel enough to really keep up with an exploration ship anyway).

Thanks!

You know that you can build colony ships only at colonies not at space ports?

Are the ships near a Super Nova or something like that? Some places in the galaxy have shield reducing capacity.

I do know you can only build colony ships at colonies -- that's where the issue was. Most games it works fine -- once in a while colonies don't seem to want to propagate themselves. Oops!

I didn't see any shield inhibiting stuff where my ships experienced problems. Usually it was as they were leaving the spaceport on their first journey, so it was near to home base. No black holes or warp drive inhivbiting zones.

All in all these are inconveniences, not game-stoppers. Of course when you cant build colony ships, you sort of have to start a new game oir else sit there and wait for someone to invade you...but the shield reduction thing is not a big deal unless of course you run into a squadron of well armed pirates or an enemy fleet before your shields are up. Scotty -- more power to the forward shields!
