Corps HQs have attached units that can be transferred to Divisions when they attack. For example a couple of days ago I had a stack of 3 units attacking a Leningrad hex that were supported in the battle by over 25 attached units from nearby HQs.

I understand that the HQ must be within 5 hexes for its Divisions to be within command radius. But is this only at the beginning of the battle or does it continue for the whole turn? For example, let us say that a Division is stacked with its Corps HQ, and it moves 10 hexes away and attacks an enemy unit. Will the Corps HQ still support the attack with 3 attached units if it remains where it is, or does it have to move within 5 hexes?

If it is the latter then I am lucky that I have been playing on "Easy", because I never move my HQ units until I figure out the best location to put them after all its sub-units have moved and attacked.

Henri

The HQ has to be within 5 hexes at the time of the battle.

A unit has to be within 5 hexes of its HQ to be eligible for support.

If the HQ has already moved, then support will no longer show up for Hasty Attacks, so Hasties will only ever get support within 5 hexes of the HQ's position at the very start of the turn. Deliberate Attacks can keep getting support so long as the HQ is moved to keep up.

And just to clarify this, the HQ goes through a number of other checks before SU's are committed to a battle. So being within 5 hexes does not automatically mean a commitment.
