Hungary '86, one of the best overtaking of history (Piquet vs Senna)

I was there the following year when Nigel absolutely destroyed Piquet in the race (as he did all season) only for his wheel nut to fall off

Good work Mr H That's more like it!

No doubt another Vettel walkover tomorrow, but at least pole and out-qualifying his teammate is a crumb of comfort...unlike Messrs Button and Di Resta

Nah, Vettel tomorrow will not finish. Big problemo with left front tire, Bernie and I got it fixed.

Superhammy, first. Alonso, second.

Hungaroring always delivers.

No idea but I since I do not care either way I suppose it is of no importance what I think. So there really is no need for me to post here. So just ignore this post and it will be as if I didn't post here at all.

Well driven Lewis and Jenson.

How long can Massa be allowed to waste a really good drive?

Bad news.... Ricciardo confirmed at Red Bull. That leaves Vettel free to absolutely dominate the sport... 5 championships in a row by the end of next season I fear....

Bad news indeed. While I congratulate Ricciardo for this, I fear he won't be able to break the Vettel/Marko dominance in RBR. All along I was dreaming of Raikkonen going to RBR, and to show Vettel who's boss. But this was to be expected - Raikkonen is a racer, and neither a PR guy nor a "racing politician" like so many drivers in F1. Some sort of an endangered species...

Btw I am a Mark Webber fan...

Mark Webber will be sorely missed - a straightforward guy and a hard (but perfectly fair) racer.

Ricciardo will be eaten alive by Vettel I'm afraid....

Let's agree on "most of the time" a perfectly fair racer

He too did his share of fouls on the curcuit which were at times close to, and at times outright dangerous to the opponent driver involved - remember this year in Sepang where he nearly forced Vettel to hit the wall. At that race I realized what sort of character Vettel is -and my sympathy to RBR went to rock bottom.

Webber's main weakness are/were the starts. He sucks at that.

Well (as a Webber fan) I bow to your greater knowledge, but I cannot recall him playing dirty in his many recent battles with Lewis, Fernando and Kimi (Hungary this year being an ideal case in point).

Frankly, anything he dishes out to Vettel in the dirty tricks dept is okay with me considering the way he has been treated by Vettel and RBR.

And so to Monza - one of the classic venues - full of history and more than a little tragedy.

Sadly this year looks like another Vettel victory.....

Vettel is being boring and making F1 boring. So instead, and inspired by the film Rush, I will post some of the great cars and drivers from the times past.

First up, the mean and purposeful looking Lotus 79 that took Mario Andretti to the F1 World Championship in 1978:

...and one of the more peculiar looking cars from the mid-seventies, its the Tyrrell P34 six-wheeler as driven by Jody Scheckter and the late Patrick Depaillier

Hi sir. No, I have not. I think the last movie I caught was the Star Trek movie which has been a couple of months. I plan on it, although, no friends of mine really like F1. I'll probably have to watch it by myself. No worries, I have done that for not a few movies, like Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.

One of my favourite cars of all time - the Toleman TG183 - driven by Derek Warwick and Bruno Giacomelli in 1983.

And its the 1980 World Championship winning Williams FW07b (in the hands of Aussie Alan Jones).

Scalextric did a superb model of this in the early 80's. Great memories.
