I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64bit with 6gb ram on a 2 year old PC (not in front of PC now so can't check CPU spec - but it was top of the line when first bought).

I notice that the CPU turn in can take a long time even after I disable all info box reports. Is this expected? It is obviously impossible to predict the time of an "average" turn for the computer, but should I expect 1 minute? 5 minutes? 10 minutes? What is the experience of other people?

Did you changed to zero also the delay time for AI movement, battle etc?

You can use the info boxes.

Set these seconds to zero for all except a small delay for combat so you can read it.

I am running on a newer thin light laptop. Intel i5-2467M CPU at 1.60Ghz and 4GB ram and windows 7 64bit. The Experience index is 4.7 (Aero graphics is the limiting factor the rest of the scores are close to 6)
I either run at 1920x1200 on an external display or use the laptop display. It doesn't appear to make any difference what resolution I run at as this is not a graphics intensive game.

Inactive countries take a second or less usually. Active countries if a lot is going on can take a couple of minutes but usually under a minute REALLY active countries like USSR and GE in mid game 1942-3 seem to take close to 5 minutes (I haven't timed this but do have a clock with a second hand near the PC and have got a feel for the times) I expect a powerful Desktop could cut these times in half easily. Also I usually leave the combat messages set at 2 seconds so that adds a bit as well. From the look of it your PC should get similar or perhaps better performance.

Those are my settings:

Crucial are AI delays, if you have got AI delay set to two seconds, so then every combat takes at least two seconds. So if there are 100 combats during one turn (which is nothing uncommon in GERvsSOV war, then it is alread 200 seconds, which is over three minutes).
