Now sometime in '44 she will be ready to sacrifice herself to the IJ ..

I believe Alameda has the largest, or second largest Yard at the WC. There should also be plenty of ASW patrol covering the golden gate.

Its incredibly dangerous to be a Japanese SS near LA (shallow water, far from Truk AVD), but I think every Japanese Player tries to cordon Victoria and Astoria in the beginning (Deep water 1 hex from limited ingress/egress routes), especially as subs damaged there have a higher chance of limping back to Hakodate, especially if you repair some system damage in the Kuriles

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR Mar 28, 42
Sub attack near Astoria at 209,55

A related question folks... in my last game I was going to send the Warspite to Capetown. But the game ended before I had a chance. I was curious to know however if a ship once OFF BOARD can still sustain more damage while in transit off board? I've no experience here and it would be good to know. I think it should, but this is a game after all and it could have been missed in the set up. I would hate to think that a ship gets a free ride once off the board (although it is free from subs, which is a good thing!). Another point of order as well here. One post mentions crew experience. How does that play into the equation? First there are two experiences, day and night and additionally what about the captain's experience? Morale??? So many questions, so little time. Alfred where are you when I need you! Hal

Yes, a ship off-map can still sustain additional damage. I sent Hermes to Cape Town because Columbo was full up and she took additional flooding damage twice while off map. Luckily for me she didn't sink.
