Yes...paratroopers have action points when they drop, so the advantage you have is to not drop them unless they can fight and take the port they land next to. You can assure this by bombing the absolute cr*p out of the port, so that it's strength is at 0.2 Then the paratroopers can land next to it, and kill the unit in the port.
Otherwise the para's just grow weaker and weaker. And if you can't take malta on the first attack, you sure won't take it on the next turn, or the turn after that.
Ummm, found that out, it was more of an experiment than a serious hope for success, but I did think that airlift should have had some effect. Anyway Kesselring came back by canoe and I have a second Parachute Division finishing preparation in Sicily, just wondered whether it was worth waiting for the Strategic Bomber unit now building in the hope of airlift from that.
