Having dropped paratroops on Malta there is no supply, the Manual says 'bomber' units in range will provide air supply and have 3 Tactical Bomber units available on Sicily. I suspect the Manual should have said Strategic Bomber, because nothing is getting through.

I guess there is no naval supply because Italian ships may not do that for German units (perhaps they should) and no German fleets can enter the Med.

Yes...paratroopers have action points when they drop, so the advantage you have is to not drop them unless they can fight and take the port they land next to. You can assure this by bombing the absolute cr*p out of the port, so that it's strength is at 0.2 Then the paratroopers can land next to it, and kill the unit in the port.

Otherwise the para's just grow weaker and weaker. And if you can't take malta on the first attack, you sure won't take it on the next turn, or the turn after that.

Ummm, found that out, it was more of an experiment than a serious hope for success, but I did think that airlift should have had some effect. Anyway Kesselring came back by canoe and I have a second Parachute Division finishing preparation in Sicily, just wondered whether it was worth waiting for the Strategic Bomber unit now building in the hope of airlift from that.

BTW I used two paratroopers to take Malta. THe first one that drops may not have enough AP's left to take the port...leaving it open for the British to move another unit in (if they happen to have one afloat). To prevent that, I drop the second one on the now vacated port.

As Liquid Sky stated, two drops (might take 3) all on the same turn is the way to take Malta (against AI). With a single para unit unless you have a pile of ships the para unit will be virtually unsupplied. No real hope taking Malta vrs an alert human opponent. Two divisions and its pretty much off the table as an objective.

Will Italian fleets supply German units ?
