OK, so I've come back to Combat Command after a string of disappointing misadventures with other hex games. I never really got deep into the game, but always had it in the back of my mind as an accessible wargame with potential.

And so my question: when you create/play a scenario and capture an enemy airfield and/or depot, does it actually have any effect other than yielding victory points? I mean, does capturing an airfield affect the enemy's offmap air support? And does capturing a depot hit the enemy's supply chain?

Sorry for such a basic question but just thought I'd ask. Thanks in advance for replies.

The depot should have an effect, but the airfield, I doubt it. However, I can only guess at this point.

At the start of each turn, the game does a check to determine whether a unit is in supply.

If you capture the depots closest to enemy units, then when the check is done there is a higher chance that the check will fail because the nearest supply source is now further away.

In some scenarios, one side or the other has air support. They fly from airfiled off the map many miles away. If you capture an airfield on the map it has no effect on any air support.

OK, that's clear enough. Many thanks for the quick replies. Shame there is no knock-on effect for capturing an airfield--I mean, just from a scenario design point of view it could have made things interesting. Anyway, thanks again.
