Gonna be trying it out here shortly, I think it is a great idea, I hope it works well.

Setting stockpile on will prevent that base from letting that item move to another base. It can be useful in certain places. I like to use it at Akyab and Coxs Bazaar to keep supply there that I ship in.

I might also add taking a base such as Imphal set to hoard .. and then when the time is right like troops need supplies in Burma ..let the supplies go ... they will rebalance in places you do not want... but supplies will get through to Burma ...

I'm pretty sure that stockpiling supplies at a base does not prevent that base from giving supplies to units or otherwise using them, it only prevents that base from giving supplies to other bases.

My understanding as well.

Also, you can stockpile devices and squads as well. This I find to be very useful when upgrading units. Nothing worse than having a commonwealth division unable to re-combine while you wait for some rare weapon to build up. If you stockpile the device then the units involved will not be allowed to upgrade with that particular device until you turn off stockpiling.
