Bridging capability - Race for Bastogne scenario - 2/3/2012 7:12:42 PM

In the scenario Race for Bastogne (BftB), There is only one German engineer company capable of building a bridge.

Is this intentional, do I have to make a choice between the two crossings, or have I missed a bridge-capable company in the re-inf.?

Status: offline 		Not sure I but I think I remember there being two units. I sent the two unit to separate bridges and each also had another engineering unit help them out. HOWEVER this was along time ago and I may be getting mixed up with another scenario but it rings a bell.

Status: offline 		I did a bridge unit filter on this scenario and there's just one unit, 2. Komp. 130. Pz. Pion. Abt.

There are 2 other engineer companies (of the 600th) but they're not bridge-capable.

Does anyone know if this is deliberate or an oversight?

Status: offline 		Nate just been back in there are four engineering units..zoom right into the bottom unit and you will see another underneath with bridge capability..this was the first scenario I ever played and it was excellent.

So you have foru units two of which have bridge buildings use the other unit thats with them to help.

Status: offline 		There are 2 bridging units at start, one each at Dasburg and Obereisenbach. These should be combined with the nearby engineers that don't have bridges to accelerate building the bridge.

Status: offline 		I think what it is Simovitch is the bottom bridge unit is underneath the non bridge unit and you only see it when you zoom right in. I knew it had two as like I said it was the first scenario (bar the tutorial) I played and I loved it, there is a running commentary on here by me which i did when I was playing it.

Thanks for the replies. You're right Wodin, I think this will be an awesome scenario.

I zoomed in all the way at the top bridge. Still only the company of the 600th there. Your photo, Simovitch, shows the first company of the 130th (mot) Pz. Pion. Abt., which does not appear on my screen, nor is it represented in the OB.

I'm using the latest patch plus the new add-on. Is there any chance the newer game is affecting my OB?

Your photo was making me feel like I lost my mind so I re-checked myself and I am right. I have no 3/130th near Dasburg. This is zoomed in and filtered to only bridge units. The 2/130th appears further south.

No love on the re-install. Still missing the bridging unit near Dasburg.

Do you have the HttR add-on? I'm asking because I wonder if something could have been altered b/t 8 & 9.

Any other ideas?

I'm trying it without the 2nd bridging unit. Adapt and overcome, right?

The two companies of the the 38. Pz. Pion. Abt. hold Urspelt. They've beat back two counter-attacks so far.

77. Inf. Regt. holds Hosingen. I got the whole regt across the river including regimental artillery. They look strong there.

II. Abt. 304. Pz. Gren. Regt. has a strong position just west of Roder, effectively cutting the Skyline Boulevard at Bombatsch. They're under pretty constant arty fire, but holding.

The whole 39. Fus. Regt. is across the river and driving on Consthum, with one company (2. Kompanie) at the objective. The rest of the regt. is within 2 km. of objective.

There seems to be a lot of American armor about, if I can believe the reports. That worries me.

The bridge at Untereisenbach is about 50% done, so the units across the river are on their own for a while.

1247, first day.

Bridge built at Untereisenbach. (Done 2140 1st day.)

77. Inf. Regt. dug in at Hosingen.

39. Fus. Regt. dug in at Consthum.

78. Inf. Regt. driving on Drauffelt. 2. Komp. attacking at Drauffelt, but rest of regt. strung out for 5 km. b/t Drauffelt and Bockholz-les Hosin. Exhausted and moving slow. Enemy armor and AAA at Drauffelt.

II. Abt. 304. Pz. Gren. Regt. driving on Clervaux. Few casualties but exhausted and moving slow. 5. and 7. Kompanies across the bridge, but Ami armor spotted.

Pz. Div. Lehr beginning to move. KG Fallois across the bridge and headed towards Bastogne (Hopefully.). The AI has a torturous route picked out for Fallois but I'll go with it for now.

KGs 901 and 902 also moving out for Bastogne. I should have staged them close to the bridge and didn't. Paying too much attention to battles forward.

German arty very effective this time. I've been using it at the Korps level for stubborn Ami units.

Here's a list of American units eliminated so far:
Co. K, 110th Inf. Regt. Surrendered at Hosingen.
2nd plt., Co. B., 630th TD Bn. Destroyed at Wahlhausen.

Mortar plt., 1st Bn., 110th Inf. Regt. Destroyed in the tree line just south of Marnach.

Not a terrible 1st day.

Status: offline 		Your doing well mate. The scenario is great. I made a newbie mistake at first by not resting my men so by day two or three I was suffering badly for it and had a fair few units sound asleep!

I too had a great start and for a change my plans worked out over a long scenarios. It really is a good one where you feel like your planning it in stages etc, just feels right.
I also thought I was well ahead of schedule..but it does get tougher as the Americans throw new units in. Thats another reason why I enjoyed it, starts off slowly and then builds up in tempo. I much prefer that than all out hardcore battles from the start.

Thats the word I'm after, tempo, the temp felt right for a surprise attack and how it unfolds.

Can't remember when I had my first bridge built. I think I was on schedule for the briefing anyway. some people where finding it hard at first because they weren't using the non bridge engineer unit aswell.

As for HTTR no I haven't got it.

it is odd..maybe your using a different set up? I use the normal one.

I found the issue. In the Historical OOB, there ARE two briding companies. However, in the Favor Axis setup, there is only the southern (Untereisenbach) unit.

Simovitch, is this deliberate? Is this another one of those "balance" things?

Re-started this scenario. Historical both ways, realistic order delay. Same plan.

Had a huge, ugly, nasty traffic jam at the bridge in the first try. Two panzer div. trying to use the same bridge at the same time.

Expecting a big difference w/two bridges.

Status: offline 		Sorry, the favor us and favor them reinforcement schedules are stuffed for the axis in Race for Bastogne.

We should do a hotfix for this, until then just play historical or standard.

I accidentally buggered this up when I went through and added Historical/Standard schedules for all the scenarios before release.
