Have you read the book? A superb read and even better than the film. The author actually fought on the East front. He also wrote a sequel which I must get one of these days, out of print but easy enough to find on Amazon.

I was going to re read it the other day, however it must have been one of the many books that my ex ripped up over the years....the most gutting one though was an east front novel that I never finished called Scar of Honour, now out of print and being sold on the US amazon at about $360...
