Open Beta for v1.01 starts now

Time of Fury spans the whole war in Europe and gives players the opportunity to control all types of units, ground, air and naval. Not only that, each player will be able to pick a single country or selection of countries and fight his way against either the AI or in multiplayer in hotseat or Play by E-Mail. This innovative multiplayer feature will give player the chance to fight bigger scenarios against many opponents, giving the game a strategic angle that has no equal in the market. The game uses Slitherine’s revolutionary PBEM++ server system.

Open Beta for v1.01 starts now

Post by doomtrader »

Hi guys

we are running an open beta for v1.01. All you will need to do is download the beta installer and use your final release serial for v1.00.

The beta version defaults to installing to a new folder. Please leave the default setting. It should not overwrite your current version. It is a complete stand alone build. This means you can have your current 1.00 version and also the 1.01 Beta. It will create a new desktop shortcut for the game. The beta version uses the test PBEM server so when you run the beta version you'll see a different set of games to the live 1.00 version. This is because the versions are not compatible and you cannot play v1.00 vs 1.01.

*** NEW BETA COMING SOON _ PLEASE WAIT ***

Please post your feedback.

How about a beta PATCH so we don't have to bother with two versions???

Beta comment 1: I have had 2 CTDs. The first one for no apparent reason. The second one, when I tried to save over an existing ver 1.00 saved game.
Beta comment 2: 1% advance to enter the war as the US every 9 DPs may be overcorrecting it. From Sept '39 to Dec '41 it would increase war entry by 9%. Will get to that date before giving my final opinion on it, though.

Please join the Members Club.

Then register the game.

Then wait for Matrix to update their site.

This will help for future patches.

Today, we will have to wait for them to update their site.

1) Never try to overwrite an existing game. They are not compatible.

Delete your old saved games if your not going to use them.

2)
I believe I agree with you about the USA.

However, try this in your game.

Elections when the time comes and any influence you can give to the USA from Great Britain.

Both of those bring the USA closer to War.

Beta comment 3: I believe Germany should go to war with the USSR over Bessarabia ONLY if it has already comquered/Vichied France. Otherwise it should pressure Rumania into surrendering Bessarabia to the USSR. Historically, I do not think Germany would have risked a 2-front war with available forces (especially Panzer units).

@Razz: a better use of US diplo points is bringing Iceland into the war. I am playing with only the US human controlled, to see how the AI does with everything else. England has not helped bring the US into the war so far, and I think that is something that SHOULD happen... as it did histrically.

The serial number problem is beyond my capacity.
I'm sure that somebody from Slitherine or Matrix will be able to sort it out, and I'll try to get them as soon as possible.

I bought my copy from Matrix and had no trouble with the serial number + beta.

Forgive the stupid question ... but are you sure the serial number has been typed in correctly?

There is, as you may not know, a text file in the top level of the game directory that stores it, so you can cut and paste from there (in most Matrix games it is "serialreg", but in ToF it isn't ... it is "Time_of_Fury") ... and make sure that there isn't an (unseen) blank space at the beginning or end when you cut and paste it (that's caught me a couple of times).

(Apologies for stating the bleeding obvious: A friend works a Computer Helpdesk and tells more, for example, that asking "Is the Computer plugged in" is not a stupid question, forex [;)])

I have the same problem. Bought the game from Matrix. Game is registered, and I can cut and paste the serial number from Matrix.

Get invalid Serial error.

Find old email when game was purchased...see that it is the same serial number. Cut and paste it in.

Invalid Serial number

Remove hyphens.

Invalid Serial number

Remove spaces

Invalid Serial number

Carefully type the number in the textbox with hyphens

Invalid Serial number

Ah well..guess I have to wait for the official patch to be released so I can patch it in game. Pity, was looking forward to playing this.
