I'm having the same problem, I am in the middle of a battle, 3 fleets of around 35 ships each, attacking Utopia mid game, biggest battle I've tried so far. I am at game speed 0.25 and the frame rate is about 1 frame every 2 sec. If I pause the game and scroll around on top of the battle field it runs at about 1 frame a sec. If find a black spot of space, the game runs perfect. Now, what puzzles me is that when I go into the task manager , with the battle running full screen below the tsm box, I can see that the game uses only a little over 1GB of RAM with about 5,5GB unused and available, and only around 50% of the cpu. If I try to set affinity or priority, I'm being told that access is denied, so I can't force windows to throw it some more juice. I do run the game as administrator, so what the heck? Game is set to 24 frames, no nebuli and about 10% stars. It's a 700 star map, still a lot of unpopulated planets. Games is up to date: 1.7.0.6 My system is an ASUS K70ID, where the original 2x2 GB of rame is replaced by 2x4 GB - which I did recently and specifically because DW:L crashed with a not enough memory error after save games had passed 55MB in size. Right before this battle I saved - it's a 25MB save file! CPU is a Dual-Core T4500@ 2,3 GHz/2,3GHz Card is a GeForce GT320M freshly updated. Op sys, Win7 Home Premium 64 bit all up to date, including the optional updates. I have BitDefender Total Security 2012 - which can't be fully turned off - but it's set to game mode and thus neither scans or updates. Everything else is turned off. Even tried after a fresh reboot, no different. So, is the game seriously only using about a 6th of the available system ram and half the CPU, and can you tell me how to let windows give it more juice if possible? Edit: Tried with the 1.7.0.7 beta, not really any noticeable difference. I had home made 512x512 png explosions in my explosion folders, did a quick resize down to 64x64, got maybe half a frame more pr sec, hard to say really.
