Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if Matrix had plans to create a scenario based on the Suvorov thesis that Stalin wanted to attack first but Hitler attacked before him.
I have detailed information of Soviet plans based on the Timenshenko and Zhukov May 18 1941 attack plan.
If Matrix does not intend to create such a scenario, my question is, is it possible as was the case in War in the Pacific, for players to create a scenario for others to try.
I cannot see that option on the game screen of War in the East.
If it is possible for users to create a scenario is anyone interested in helping me create the Suvorov scenario? Probable attack date could be May 25th or June 1st presuming that stalin did okay the Timensheno/Zhukov plan.

IIRC, you can't start any earlier than Jun 22nd.

Rezun's thesis has by and large been discredited anyway.

There are no plans but you could create this scenario in the editor. I worked with all of the official scenarios using the in-game editor without needing any programming knowledge.

Yeah, you can't start before 22 June 1941.

I think you can start before Jun 22, 1941, but the issue you run into is the "suprise turn" is currently hardwired into the code for June 22, 1941, so that would cause issues.

While I am not familiar with the May plans to attack, I have heard about a supposed Russian plan to attack in mid July 1941. This is what I would likely base a scenario on if I were looking to do a "Russia attacks first" scenario.

I think most of the theories about a Russian attack for 1941 have been mostly shown to be fiction, but the topic still makes for interesting conversation anyway. Some of the German General memoirs briefly address this I think. Guderian stated he did not see an army deployed to attack soon, but rather found the Red Army in more of a "ready for all contingencies" type of posture, where they could have moved up to attack in a short period of time or gone on the defensive, etc depending on the situation. Manstien basically had the same observation. Both thought the Russians had too much forward for a good defense in depth, but there was no sign of an attack happening shortly.
