OK, I'm not very good at watching supply and regularly get burnt by units running out of supply....but I'm learning.

I am on the last easy scenario. In order to win, I have to capture a city on the far right of the land area. But every time I head over with units, they run out of supply long before I get there. Even my fastest units can't make it there in time.

How do I get that city? Or how do I get my supply to reach that far. There is no rail line anywhere near the city.

Hi tommict,

remember it can be OK for your units to go out of supply, especially if you don't intend to do much fighting with them.

As long as you thoroughly blast the Soviet force that's confronting you initially, you can literally walk one of your units into Elista and the Soviets don't really have anything to stop you... and even an out-of-supply unit can capture a city if it's not defended.

OK, so I got there, but that depleted some resources so I never came close to the cities on the outskirts. If I can't get through this, I'm never going to be ready for the medium scenarios or the campaign. Any more help/hints?

Pretty frustrating. Have restarted the scenario about 5 times. If I don't capture that city by turn 4, the scenario is unwinnable.

You're playing Edelweiss?  The city on the upper right (Elista) is easy to capture -- just send a mobile unit racing east, and don't worry about it running out of supply, since it won't have to fight.

For the southern part of the map, make sure to upgrade your logistics every turn, and make it an absolute priority to keep that rail line clear of enemy control.  On a big map like this railways are essential since you must direct your offensives along them.  That's one of the features that really makes this game stand out.

Yes - and it sucks. I try to reach that city but can't break through until turn 3. By then they have to much of a head start heading toward the city. I pay close attention to the supply rail, as that kills the scenario real quick. Of course, now ?I'm never getting past turn 4 because I can't take that one city early enough.

You don't have to take any city by turn X unless you're trying to get a Brilliant Victory, so don't worry about that. And Elista is very easy to capture -- just send a motorized division towards it once you break through.

If the scenario is really frustrating you, try switching over to another one for a bit and come back to it...

What's weird is when the AI cuts your supply and you cut it's supply. You have a map full of units out of supply! That's not right and one of the reasons I don't play this title much anymore...The AI will sacrifice all of it's units to cut your supply with no ill effects as to losing victory points because it has lost most of it's units! You clean the board of enemy units, but lose because you've been delayed by loss of supply!!!
