At the tactical level I think the AI is pretty good. Particularly on the defense. On the attack it's OK as long as the unit density doesn't get too high. Some more player experience will give us more information on how good the AI is on the strategic level, but overall, this is very playable. If it's not enough of a challenge, bump all the opponents to Easy, crank down the FoW to 1 hex, and I think it will kick your butt as often as not.

We have tried the AI to be not to challenging on normal levels. If you find the game too easy, just change the difficulty level.

I like the idea that things don't happen, just because certain events have occurred, much better to have an element of chance.

I agree that the game is a challenge but setting FOW down to 1 might be going too far as well as being unrealistic. I'm going to sett it to 3 for my upcoming Barbarossa rematch against the AI.

Question: Does the FOW setting affect the AI's planning or is the AI always aware of all units everywhere?

Only the devs can answer that. What I can say is that if the AI is on the defense, its need for info to offset the FoW is reduced dramatically. And that makes it much stronger. This games' AI is shockingly good at just Normal difficulty if it is defending.
