Hello,

I am new in the game and I have some question (maybe stupid, but I did'nt find answer in the manual, I am learning step by step...) :

- Commander : what happens if a unit with a commander is killed (is he dead too ?). Also, do I have an interest to not deploy all commanders at the beginning of the game, as we can redeploy them later quickly

- Merging : Is it possible to merge 2 units to increase the total basic strengh (ex : 2 divisions of 1,5 = 3). If not, what is the interest to merge 2 units (sure there is one, but I need help...)

- Events : There are lots of events in the game, do we have a detail somewhere of all possible events (ex : after Poland invade, I had a message which decreased my effectiveness by 40%... I wasn't prepared !)

Thanks for your help !

When a unit is destroyed, commander goes back to HQ
It is not possible to merge 2 units to increase the strength of any of them above 100%, if you need that, you can just upgrade division into corps.
Events nature is that you should not know what happens, also some of them can occur only in specific situations. If you would know what happens, you will get a huge advantage over the AI.

Thanks !

so for commanders, it s not necessary to keep a lot in pool in case some of them are destroyed. I should use almost both of them at the beginning. So another question, commanders keep their experience when they come back in pool ?

The idea behind merging, I believe, was to allow players to send reinforcements to the front line in larger quantities than the typical reinforce feature.

@tombo
units strength on the map can be only displayed only without decimals

FOW can be set for specific number of hexes.

Here is the description of the NATO icon

Hi Titanwarrior89,

The resolution is much greater than steps. It's more like strength points and you can lose 0.1 of a strength point, each of which correponds to a portion of the unit TO&E, so you're not losing a third or a quarter of a unit each time you take losses necessarily, but you can still lose an entire unit in one battle.

Regards,

- Erik

FOW can be set for specific number of hexes.
in preference screen u can turn FOW on/off...this is the shaded area on map, not number of hexes. Is there a hot key to do this?

Set 'advanced recon' off and number of hexes for fog to the highest value, and you essentially have 'no fog.'

There is no hot key to toggle it during game play.

During the single player game you can also move the slider to below zero, and this will turn off the FOW

Just one more:

If I mod a unit to 150% strength in the land_units file, it appears 150% strength on the map. I assume it also performs that way in combat resolution....

It should, the combat resolution table takes under account the strength of the unit, and then all modifiers.
