Hi all

Do you know what are the advantages of fortification for defender?

I know that attacker should have a ratio of fort level + 2 to take the base, but is there any other advantage?
For example, is the AV of defender modified by fort level? If yes how?

Fortifications (if attack is not successful), will lessen the casualties for defender. AV is just abstraction of combat values and casualties are determined by firepower of devices/squads in unit. Fortifications lessen that effect.

You can see the effect when seemingly inferior IJA unit causes more casualties to Chinese unit even when attack is not successful, but when you check the individual squad values, Japanese squad had lot more firepower. And later in war, US squads will have more firepower than IJA squads.

As I recall, at least in Classic WitP, forts would convey up to t a x3 multiplier to the defender's AV.

I don't know if it's linear, or is magnified as the fort level reaches 9.

So maybe something like

Fort 0 = 100% x Def AV
Fort 1 = 110% x Def AV
Fort 2 = 125% x Def AV
Fort 3 = 150% x Def AV
Fort 4 = 175% x Def AV
Fort 5 = 200% x Def AV
Fort 6 = 225% x Def AV
Fort 7 = 250% x Def AV
Fort 8 = 275% x Def AV
Fort 9 = 300% x Def AV

No idea if the AV multiplier still exists in AE (I'm sure it's in the manual somewhere), or what the multiplier is per fort level.

Just guessing.
